Advocacy and Charity
Serving everyday with passion
Helping our community is why we exist.
Advancing Health through Advocacy and Charity
At Exercise for Rehabilitation, our mission extends beyond providing exceptional healthcare services. We are deeply committed to advocating for policies and initiatives that promote health and well-being on a broader scale. Our advocacy efforts are rooted in our core belief in every individual's right to lead an active and healthy life.
1. Advocating for Policy Reform
One of our key advocacy initiatives is our partnership with the Girls Uniform Agenda. Through our collective efforts, we have played a pivotal role in advocating for legislative change and school uniform policy reform. Our research and advocacy led to a landmark decision mandating that schools offer trousers and shorts as options for girls, positively impacting the lives of over 1 million Australian girls. You can read more about the GUA here.
2. Promoting Health Literacy
We believe that access to understandable health information is essential for empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health. That's why we have partnered with Diabetes Victoria to increase health literacy standards. Through this collaboration, we actively participate in member events and author articles in member publications, supporting individuals living with and affected by diabetes.
3. Pushing for Preventive Health Strategies
Our commitment to preventive health extends to advocating for improved access to physical activity and healthy eating programs. We actively push for preventive health strategies in Parliament, aiming to raise awareness and bring positive change to empower Australians on their journey to better health and well-being.
4. Advocating for Multidisciplinary Healthcare
We champion multidisciplinary healthcare and advocate for collaboration among health professionals to drive positive health reform. As Directors of the Primary Care Diabetes Society of Australia, we actively advocate for best care practices for all Australians living with diabetes, shaping a healthcare system that delivers improved health outcomes for everyone. You can learn more about the PCDSA here.
5. Engaging with the Community
We actively engage with our community through various channels, including community radio, where we discuss diverse health topics and promote health literacy. Empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their health is fundamental to creating a healthier, more informed society. You can listen to some of radio shows here.
6. Championing Children's Well-being
As a healthcare organisation, we are passionate about safeguarding and nurturing the well-being of children. We collaborate with organisations like Parents Voice Australia, VicHealth, and the Obesity Policy Coalition to champion for children's access to healthier food options and supportive physical activity environments.
7. Driving Positive Change
As industry leaders, we drive positive change in health and wellness through co-authoring resources, delivering impactful speeches, and contributing to national advocacy efforts. Our goal is to inspire fellow professionals and the community to prioritise health and well-being.
Recognition of Efforts
Our commitment to advocacy and charity has been recognised through various awards, including local community spirit awards and national awards in health and business. These acknowledgements serve as a testament to our dedication and commitment to making a positive impact in the field of healthcare and promoting a healthier, more active community.
In summary, our advocacy and charity efforts are deeply rooted in our mission to improve health outcomes for all Australians and create a healthier, more inclusive society. We are proud to be at the forefront of driving positive change and making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and communities across Australia.
